My family, boyfriend, and I just got back from a two-week trip in Europe! It was an amazing trip and I'm so grateful to have been a part of it. The first country we visited was Germany, where some of my cousins live. We got to stay with them in a small town outside of Berlin. The first thing I noticed about Germany (besides the narrow roads and different language) is its history. The house my cousins live in was built in the 1860's and stands on a large property that used to be a farm. The land itself has remnants of world war two, such as the swastika engraved on a stone near their barn (pictured below). Although we visited Germany in early July, the weather was cooler (70's). What I found weird was the time the sun would set. It wouldn't get fully dark until around 10pm and the sun rose between 5-5:30. Apart from that, it was nice being tucked away in the countryside while also being just a thirty minute train ride away from Berlin.

(Pictured below is an old well that still works!)

Since the property used to be a farm, there are a ton of fruit trees and flowers planted everywhere. They also have rabbits and free-range chickens.

If you're ever visiting Germany I strongly suggest that you spend time in the countryside, it is gorgeous and much more picturesque than the city. There are so many wonderful experiences we had in Germany and the next I'll be posting about is our time spent in Berlin (and the largest chocolate shop in the world)!
